When An Emergency Orthodontist Visit is Essential
What is an Emergency Orthodontic Visit?
The main goal of an emergency orthodontist visit is to provide quick and effective care. If you are experiencing an intense amount of pain, or if your orthodontic appliance or bracket has broken, you may need to come in for an emergency orthodontic visit.
An emergency orthodontic visit provides rapid orthodontic care for patients in pain or discomfort. Especially to those who want to fix their bite. Our team of orthodontic professionals is here to help you.
The following is a list of reasons for why you may need to come in for an emergency orthodontic visit:
– Poking wires
– Loose brackets
– Broken orthodontic appliance
– and more.
Let’s take a deeper look at some of these reasons why you may need to come in for an emergency visit.
Poking Wires
Our team will work with you during your regular visit to make sure that the wires on your braces do not irritate your cheeks or gums. With that said, sometimes your wires can move after your appointment causing irritation or discomfort. If you have tried to cover the poking wire with wax but you are still in discomfort, please contact our office so that we can get you in for a visit as soon as possible.
One suggestion we have for poking wires is to try to reposition the pesky wire by using something like an eraser head from the tip of a pencil or by using a cotton swab. Always be careful when trying to reposition your wire as they tend to be quite pokey!
A good orthodontist team like the team at Aloha Orthodontics is here to help. You can always email or call us with questions.
Loose or Broken Brackets
If you are experiencing a loose or broken bracket, you should contact our office as soon as possible. To prevent loose or broken brackets, we suggest staying away from sticky and hard foods if possible. Things like toffee and whole apples are the enemy of braces!
Still, accidents happen and your bracket can get loose or broken. It’s best to deal with these types of situations right away to prevent unwanted shifting of your teeth.
As you can see, it can be important to come in for an emergency orthodontist visit if needed. The team at Aloha Orthodontics is here to make your orthodontic journey as smooth as possible, even if there are unintended hiccups that require an emergency visit.
